ARE YOU READY? AM I?

So Christmas is officially in what...9 days? I'm not sure I am ready. I have everything hidden in bags in the basement. I am not really even sure what I have. I am starting to around things in my head. What do I have, who do I have to still buy for?

It's about now that I start to panic, maybe I haven't gotten everything I need, that maybe I have forgotten to buy something for someone. Lists are essential at this time of year. I have so many lists I start to get confused. The only problem with lists is that I tend to leave them around the house where the husband can read them. And now my 5 year old is starting to read and can figure out some words. Now I am worried she will be able to figure out what's on the list. Paranoia...I think so.

Anyway, I am going to spend the next week tallying up what do and don't have.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

I just realized the date on my last post. Holy Cow! I promised myself that I would try to update on a more regular basis. So much for that. There is one bright spot, my laptop is now fixed. HURRAY! So you can expect some more regular post with pictures too! I know shocking. Post ya later

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

I am across a story at work ( I work in a newsroom) that was so moving. So moving it compelled me to learn more. The story was about a Secret Santa working mysteriously in Kansas City, handing out $100 bills to complete strangers, strangers in need.

This is what I learned about this Secret Santa...and others like him. They are part of the Society of Secret Santas

It is an anonymous group of individuals throughout the world, performing random acts of kindness to those less fortunate. They use their own money, without tax deductions. They give with love, always remaining anonymous.

It all started with Larry Dean Stewart. He was the creator and original Secret Santa. For more than 20 years, he played Santa. During those years he gave away about $1.3 million. Stewart remained anonymous for all those years. Three months before he died in January 2007 his identity was made public.

There is power in random acts of kindness.

SOMETHING COOL

So, as I mentioned in an earlier post I am a Twitter-er. I think I might actually be addicted...but that's a whole other issue. Maybe a topic for a later post. Anyway, back to the point of this post. I am meeting a lot of cool people on Twitter. You should really check it out...OK, at least wait to finish reading this post before you do. But speaking of cool people I began following this guy, humby is his Twitter name who is a co-founder of OpenZine.com . It is totally cool and totally free. The site allows you to create and then publish a full online magazine from start to finish by just pressing a few buttons and uploading a few pictures. You just give them the URL and that's it. You're a publisher!

And the ideas are endless.

This site could change the world of publishing forever. I can't wait to start working on my own magazine. I will keep you posted.
