I am across a story at work ( I work in a newsroom) that was so moving. So moving it compelled me to learn more. The story was about a Secret Santa working mysteriously in Kansas City, handing out $100 bills to complete strangers, strangers in need.
This is what I learned about this Secret Santa...and others like him. They are part of the Society of Secret Santas
It is an anonymous group of individuals throughout the world, performing random acts of kindness to those less fortunate. They use their own money, without tax deductions. They give with love, always remaining anonymous.
It all started with Larry Dean Stewart. He was the creator and original Secret Santa. For more than 20 years, he played Santa. During those years he gave away about $1.3 million. Stewart remained anonymous for all those years. Three months before he died in January 2007 his identity was made public.
There is power in random acts of kindness.
