EGG- citing Easter Fun With KINDER Canada

Easter is a great time of year. It represent renewal. It also signals fresh things with the beginning of Spring with warmer weather ( well that is the hope but right now in Ontario old man Winter is holding on tight) and new life sprouting up from the soil in the garden. Easter in our home has always meant family time. Growing up the Easter Bunny always visited our house, leaving us treats of chocolate bunnies and chocolate eggs hidden around the house. The morning would be spent excitedly on an Easter egg hunt followed by family breakfast. The rest of the day would be spent preparing for a great Easter dinner.

Now that I have children Easter is still about family. I share all the fun of my childhood with my children. The Easter Bunny still visits and my kids love to hunt for treats and surprises the Easter Bunny has left.  My kids get something extra special thanks to loving neighbours who love to share the excitement of Easter. Every year our friends love to have several families over for a great egg hunt. The kids search while the adults talk and share treats baked and brought. It is a great way to connect and share in the spirit of Easter. The kids look forward to this for weeks.

This year the egg-citement began a little earlier than normal with the arrival of this special Kinder® treat basket.

Inside the basket was an assortment of fantastic Easter treats from Kinder® Canada, including one particular one that kids couldn't wait to get their hands on. It was the Kinder® Surprise® Egg Decorating Kit. So, on a day when the sun was shining and the temperatures were mild, the kids pulled out the kid and got to work decorating.

As an extra special treat Harry the Easter bunny is touring Canada! Keep your eyes peeled, Harry will be making surprise appearances at family events in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary Vancouver this March to celebrate Easter and spread the joy with FREE samples of Kinder® Mini eggs. Check the Kinder® Canada Facebook page for details, products and promotions!

And probably the best part of all of this is the chance for you to help out others by spreading the news
KINDER® Canada. KINDER will be donation $1 to Children's Miracle Network of Canada for every new friend on their Facebook Page from March 1st to 31st, up to $25,000.  Let's spread the word and share the love!

Want to see the new Kinder toys? Take a look at the new toy gallery! You can even vote for your  favourite!

Happy Easter!

March Break FUN with Disney on Ice

I have been fortunate that I have been able to share the Disney On Ice experience with my kids every year since they were very young. Actually, my youngest daughter went to her very first Disney On Ice show when she was just about eight months old. My kids look forward to the show every year! OK, I will admit that I look forward to it also.

The show is always great fun. It is truly an experience. We get to take the kids to Toronto for the day. They always love the show and seeing the Disney characters in real life!

This was a few years back at Disney On Ice.

This year the show looks like another great extravaganza! Disney On Ice presents Rockin' Ever After! It features an all star lineup of all our favourite Disney characters from Disney Pixar's BRAVE, Tangled, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast! Can't wait!

I love to take my girls to this show. Sometimes Dad comes along too! It is always a great day to spend as a family. We get to share an experience together that we can talk about and remember for months and years to come.

We are going to the show on Sunday morning! You should join us!  check out ticket information here or here  . There are nine performances from March 13 to March 17th!

This year there is something special! On Friday March 15 Disney On Ice Rockin' Ever After is holding its first ever Rockin' & Reading Book Drive in support of Children's Book Bank. It is a charity that provides free books and literacy support to children in low income Toronto neighbourhoods. Families are invited to drop by Rogers Centre, 1 Blue Jays Way at 2 p.m. with new children's book!

Book donors will have a chance to meet Disney's most avid reader, princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Small Steps...Mean Big Results

I have loved taking part in this campaign. 2013 has all been about health and well being. This year is all about getting healthy for me. So this campaign by ShesConnected and Adult Essentials couldn't have come at a better time for me. It has helped me keep focused and be accountable since I am blogging about it!

As the campaign comes to a close it is important to say that my health and wellness journey has just begun! I hope to never close the door on getting healthy...mind, body and spirit.

I have come to realize that the best way to get the best results if for me to take small steps every single day. For example, I am striving to cut out or at least cut down the amount of coffee that I drink every day! It is a challenge every day but one that I welcome. I am also challenging myself to eat more fruits and veggies every single day, or should I say drink more fruits and veggies. We bought a juicer at our house and juice every single day ( although I will admit some days I don't get a glass down. My husband is a champion at the juice-every-day challenge!)  I am challenging myself to eat better at work. It is something that is hard for me since there is a pop machine and a vending machine just a few steps away from my desk. Finally, I am exercising more than ever before and to be honest that is saying something since this time last year I was doing very little exercise. Every week I hit the pavement with a group of women, led by Sue Abell, who kick my butt every single Thursday. If you are downtown Burlington Thursday mornings at around 10 o'clock honk or wave!

I will continue to take vitamins, particularly Adult Essentials mainly because that are just so tasty. Gummy vitamins are a family affair. My kids love the IronKids Gummy vitamins. The kids are just  glad mom and dad finally have their own Adult Essentials gummy vitamins so we will now stop eating their vitamins.

What small changes have you made that have made a big impact in your life? Or on your overall health?

Disclosure - " I am participating in the Adult Essentials Blogger Outreach program by ShesConnected. I received a supply of vitamins and compensation in exchange for my participation in this campaign. The opinions on this blog are my own"

I Am Looking Forward to March Break

It is true.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to March Break.

Here is just two reasons why....

REASON #1

 REASON #2

But there is another reason.....

While I LOVE spending time with my girls - since I don't get to see them much on school days because I work nights -  there is another, very important reason that I am longing for March Break.

IT IS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

REASON # 3

And NO I don't mean feet. I am talking about SLEEP, glorious sleep. It will be a week where I can actually sleep in every single day. You see if you don't know already I work nights. I don't get home until 1 a.m. and get up with my husband in the morning to get the kids off to school for 8:45 a.m.. To be honest it is a schedule that just sucks the life out of me so I need this week ahead to recharge my batteries.

Are you looking forward to March Break? Why... OR Why NOT?

I would love to hear from you

More Confessions of a Coffee Addict

So I wanted to update everyone on how I am doing with this whole kick the coffee thing.

WELL....................................

If I am being really honest here it is harder than I thought. The first days were the hardest. I felt terrible. I felt hung over and had a terrible headache. Once I got past the initial shock I felt much better.

I should admit that I have not actually kicked coffee COMPLETELY.  I have seriously scaled back the amount of coffee that I am drinking. Many days I have NO coffee at all. While some days I have one. Today I will admit that I had two coffees. Not a great day but you know what it is better than four or five large cups of coffee a day ( which is what I was drinking when I decided to kick my coffee addiction).

Every day is a new opportunity to fuel my body with good food and drink. So every day is a chance to do better than the day before.

Off to grab a cup of tea now!

Have you ever tried to kick a habit that wasn't healthy? How did you do it?
