More Confessions of a Coffee Addict
So I wanted to update everyone on how I am doing with this whole kick the coffee thing.
WELL....................................
If I am being really honest here it is harder than I thought. The first days were the hardest. I felt terrible. I felt hung over and had a terrible headache. Once I got past the initial shock I felt much better.
I should admit that I have not actually kicked coffee COMPLETELY. I have seriously scaled back the amount of coffee that I am drinking. Many days I have NO coffee at all. While some days I have one. Today I will admit that I had two coffees. Not a great day but you know what it is better than four or five large cups of coffee a day ( which is what I was drinking when I decided to kick my coffee addiction).
Every day is a new opportunity to fuel my body with good food and drink. So every day is a chance to do better than the day before.
Off to grab a cup of tea now!
Have you ever tried to kick a habit that wasn't healthy? How did you do it?

A Better Me For 2013 #AdultEssentials
I have set a goal for 2013. I am striving to be healthier and happier this year.
I am in my forties now and after years of raising kids, working hard and neglecting myself I am taking this year to focus on myself. As I have mentioned before I have started to workout once a week with a great group of ladies with TreadPowerfully, we have started juicing in our house, I am trying to kick my coffee addiction and started to be conscious of what I am eating.
The other thing I am expecting this year is some challenges. I think when we set goals inevitably there will be challenges along the way. I have already faced a few challenges, like struggling to kick the coffee habit. I knew it would be hard but in order for me to be successful at it needs to be top of mind... all the time. I have not always been successful at going all day without a coffee but I am certainly cutting down on what I drink. Exercising is also hard. I don't always want to do it and I am hoping when the weather warms up a bit it will be easier.
My husband and I are both juicing. He is better at it than me but I am working at getting better. It is a great way to get fruits and veggies in your diet. Thanks to Adult Essentials and ShesConnected, we are also getting our vitamins. The multi-vitamin is great. We also take Vitamin D and an Omega 3 vitamin. That are so tasty it hardly feels like a chore. The taste is one of the things my husband has been so impressed with. We have taken multi-vitamins before but they were also these big pills that needed to be swallowed but Adult Essentials taste great.
One of my next goals is to start meditating every day. I believe there are great benefits to meditation. I have tried it before but struggled with making it part of my every day routine. It is a challenge ( there is that word again!). I am going to start with baby steps, doing just a few minutes every day as I build up to a more substantial time of thirty minutes. I hope it will help me learn to focus more. I will keep you posted over the next month on how I do with my new routine of meditation.

Getting Healthy .... with Adult Essentials
The vitamin business is alive and well. When you go to your local store or pharmacy you will see the selection is vast. I will admit that I am not the best patient when it comes to taking vitamins. In the past adult vitamins were just not that exciting, there was no fun! The kids always seemed to have tastier choices. The adult mutli-vitamin that I was taking was a large pill that had to be swallowed.
I have something to admit. When the kids got the chance to take Iron Kids gummies
I actually took as many vitamins as the kids did. They were tasty and just a little bit more fun than popping a pill vitamin like I had always done. Let's face it anything that can help you remember to take your vitamins, anything that makes you want to take your vitamins is a good thing!
I was so excited to be working with ShesConnected and Adult Essentials on this blog campaign. One of the things that I am striving for is to live a healthier life. I am turning 42 this year and I promised myself when I turned 40 that I would get healthy. It has taken me a little longer to get that done but last September I started a work out class with a great instructor (Sue Abel and Tread Powerfully) and a group of great ladies, I am trying to eat better and live a healthier lifestyle and taking vitamins is part of that. I know I don't have the most balanced life, when it comes to work, family balance and my diet so taking vitamins helps me fill in the gaps where my diet/nutrition lacks. It is all about a journey. I am working to educate myself and I hope it will be a life long journey and process.
