Ford Fun - Escape to Detroit

Now that is a seriously line up of cars. It was cool to see. Escape after Escape! I choose to drive the 2014 Ford Escape and I partnered up with Krissy +B-Inspired Mama to see Detroit!

This was the one we picked. Love the colour

Beautiful

One of the stops along our driving tour of Detroit was this neighbourhood. It is the home of the Heidelberg Project.

"The Heidelberg Project is art, energy, and community. It’s an open-air art environment in the heart of an urban community on Detroit’s East Side. Tyree Guyton, founder and artistic director, uses everyday, discarded objects to create a two block area full of color, symbolism, and intrigue. Now in its 27th year, the Heidelberg Project is recognized around the world as a demonstration of the power of creativity to transform lives."

What an interesting neighbourhood. It is a work of art. It is a great way to spark conversation about our urban spaces and what is art. This area is so interesting. Some may consider it junk but others see works of art. No matter what you see it is a great way to talk about how we use communities, urban spaces, particularly when they are left in disrepair and almost forgotten.

This house had a fire but you still see the art.

The now empty and abandoned train station. What a beautiful building. I can just imagine it bustling with travelers coming into the city.

Our last stop on the Escape To Detroit tour!

Detroit has so many amazing, interesting and unique buildings and neighbourhoods. I am glad I got to see just a few gems. There is so much history in Detroit. I think there is so much more in the future to come from Detroit. There will no doubt be difficult days ahead for the city but it appears to be a city full of hard working, passionate people who have still have great things to share.
